Why does the bike run better sometimes than others?

Not much action on the board the past two days, so I thought I'd ask another dumb question. This evening the bike seemed to be running extra sweet and smooth. It always runs fine, but sometimes it seems to have it all together...even though I haven't done anything to produce the change. It's one of those things that makes me go, "Hmmmmmmm?!" Just wondering if any of you have pondered throught it to an intelligent conclusion.
